Sigraflex Universal® is a high performance gasket material manufactured from high quality graphite combined with either one or two layers of tanged 316L stainless steel sheet. These components are bonded together using a unique process which is totally free of adhesives which allows Sigraflex Universal to offer long lasting performance with no risk of adhesive burn-out and subsequent delamination.
Sigraflex Universal® is primarily used as a gasket material in demanding applications with corrosive media, high sealing pressures and/or elevated temperatures. This high quality material is widely used in applications where temperatures reach above 450ºC (in some cases up to 550ºC) and exhibits good chemical resistance and shear strength.
Presenting no known health hazards, Sigraflex Universal does not become brittle with age and offers long term stability of compressibility and recovery, even when exposed to widely fluctuating temperatures. This material has good resistance to thermal shock, low permeability to gases and is impermeable to liquids.
Because of this combination of high performance characteristics, Sigraflex Universal has become a common choice for demanding sealing applications. Examples include gaskets for steam pipework, boilers, feed lines and vessels as well as sealing inspection glasses, fittings and exhaust systems with pulsating pressure loads.
AG offers Sigraflex Universal Graphite Sheet in thicknesses ranging from 0.8mm through to 3mm and in a number of different sheet sizes. We can, of course, also provide gaskets cut from this high quality material with standard sizes often available in stock and custom sizes able to be produced on very short lead times.
