Nomex® 411 is an uncalendered pre-cursor to Nomex® 410. Compared to type 410, Nomex® 411 has a lower density and correspondingly lower electrical and mechanical properties but offers increased impregnability and saturability. Nomex® 411 is typically used as motor phase insulation or as a transformer coil end filler material where its high bulk and conformability are of prime importance.
Available in five thicknesses as standard (listed below), Nomex® 411 is identical in chemical composition to Nomex 410® and shares 410’s ability to perform in electrical environments up to 220ºC.
This UL recognised material is compatible with virtually all classes of electrical varnishes and adhesives (e.g. silicones, epoxies, polyesters, acrylics, phenolics, polyimides, synthetic rubbers) and is fully compatible with transformer fluids (mineral and silicone oils as well as other synthetics), lubricating oils and refrigerants. Common industrial solvents (alcohols, acetone, xylene, ketone, toluene) have a slight softening and swelling effect on Nomex 411®, similar to that of water. These effects are largely reversible when the solvent is removed.
Nomex® 411 is available from AG in a range of thicknesses (listed in the below table). These different sizes can all be provided by the roll, kilogram or metre as well as in custom component form. Our extensive fabrication facilities and years of experience in working with this material ensure that we can provide slit Nomex® 411 rolls, precisely cut components and folded channels to suit the exact needs of your application. For more information on the range of options available, please do not hesitate to contact your local AG office.
