Kapton FN is a very high quality, heat sealable grade of polyimide insulation film consisting of Kapton HN film which is then coated or laminated on one or both sides with Teflon® FEP flouropolymer. This allows Kapton FN to retain the unique balance of electrical, chemical, mechanical and thermal properties of Kapton HN over a wide temperature range.

The existence of the FEP coating on one or both sides of the film has seen Kapton FN successfully utilized in applications that require a heat bondable film or a moisture and chemical resistance beyond the capabilities of uncoated Kapton films. Kapton FN meets the requirements of ASTM D-5213 (type 2, item A).

Due to its unparalleled combination of electrical, mechanical, chemical and thermal performance; Kapton® FN is used in a wide variety of applications. Some of these include:

• Automotive diaphragms and manifolds

Available Forms & Customisation Options

Kapton® FN is available by the roll, metre or in slit tape or cut component form from Associated Gaskets. Roll length varies by thicknesses.

We’re pleased to offer a full conversion service for our Kapton® FN. Our in-house slitting, knife cutting, sewing, kiss cutting, die cutting and water cutting facilities allow us to offer slit Kapton® FN tape or precision cut Kapton® FN components in whatever size you require.
