Weicon Zinc Spray is a high quality, cold galvanising surface coating and protection spray made from flaky zinc and aluminium pigments with a specialised binder. Used in both indoor and outdoor environments, this spray forms a quick drying, adhesive, protective layer that effectively protects against corrosion whilst creating a RAL 9006 (slightly weathered look) Zinc coloured finish.
Manufactured in Germany by Weicon and trusted around the world for decades, this quality spray is manufactured using very high purity (about 99.7%) zinc flakes rather than the more common zinc pellets found in many other zinc spray paints. This choice allows Weicon Zinc Spray to provide robust and long lasting protection against corrosion as the flakes naturally form an impenetrable barrier to prevent rust formation.
A coating created using Weicon Zinc Spray is abrasion resistant and is dust dry in about 15 minutes (approximately), hardened after around 12 hours and can be painted after about 24 hours. The fully cured product withstands temperatures ranging from -50ºC to 500ºC and recorded over 550 hours of providing effective protection for coated metal parts in a DIN 50021 / 53167 Salt Spraying Test (which equals something like 7-8 years of natural weathering conditions here in Australia) and exceeds the requirements of DIN EN ISO 1461.
This long lasting spray has a high metal content of around 70% (not to be confused with the far higher purity of the metal itself), does not crack nor require a primer prior to applications (surfaces should be cleaned and degreased with Weicon Cleaner S). It is used as a high quality rust protection primer, for touching up welded or drilled sections, as a conductive layer in spot welding and in all kinds of applications where metal must be protected against corrosion.
