Weicon Plastic Metal F2 is a viscous, 2-part repair compound that sets hard. Manufactured from aluminium filled epoxy resin, Weicon Plastic Metal F2 is ideal for making repairs to aluminium, aluminium alloys, magnesium and other light metals. The liquid nature of this grade allows it to be evenly spread over surfaces which means economical application and good wear resistant performance.
Weicon Plastic Metal F2 is aluminium in colour. It is applied in layers with a maximum thickness of 10mm.
Typical applications for Weicon Plastic Metal F2 include:
- Casting models and moulds
- Making templates
- Repairs to porous and damaged castings
- The production of prototypes
Plastic Metal F2 has a pot life of about 60 minutes (at 20ºC, based on 200gm of mixture) and is fully cured after approximately 24 hours (can handle mechanical loads after 16 hours). It cures with very little shrinkage (0.025%) which allows for precise application.
After complete curing, Weicon Plastic Metal F2 will be completely hard. Test results found it to have a Shore D Hardness of 79, a compressive strength of 43 MPa and a mean tensile strength of 14 MPa (all tested at 25ºC in accordance with DIN 53281-83 requirements). Weicon Plastic Metal F2 is used in applications where temperatures fall between -35ºC and 120ºC.
Available Sizes
Weicon Plastic Metal F2 is available from AG in 0.5kg or 2kg kits. These contain the appropriate ratio of resin and hardener which allows you to simply combine all of both to achieve the ideal mix ratio.
