Weicon Plastic Metal F is a two-part repair compound designed specifically for making repairs to components made from aluminium, aluminium alloys, magnesium and other light metals. This compound is specially engineered from aluminium filled epoxy resin and has a pasty consistency which allows for accurate application and use on vertical surfaces.
Weicon Plastic Metal F is aluminium in colour and, once cured, blends in well with aluminium metal. This inexpensive repair compound is designed for permanent repairs and can be applied in layers with a maximum thickness of 10mm. This grade of repair putty is non-corrosive and anti-magnetic.
Typical applications for Weicon Plastic Metal F include:
- Filling in blowholes on light metal castings
- The reconstruction of metal components
- Mould making
- Tool construction
- Model making
Plastic Metal F has a pot life of about 60 minutes (at 20ºC, based on 200gm of mixture) and is fully cured after approximately 24 hours (can handle mechanical loads after 16 hours). It cures with very little shrinkage (0.02%) which allows for solid patching and filling.
Once fully cured, Weicon Plastic Metal F exhibits reasonable physical strength that approaches that of normal aluminium. In DIN 53281-83 tests it recorded a compressive strength of 61 MPa and a tensile strength of 20 MPa. Final hardness is 84 Shore D. The cured compound is used in applications with temperatures between -35ºC and 120ºC.

Weicon Plastic Metal F is available from AG in 0.5kg or 2kg kits. These contain the appropriate ratio of resin and hardener which allows you to simply combine all of both to achieve the ideal mix ratio.
