PTFE Sheet, also known as Virgin PTFE Sheet, is an extremely high quality material with almost universal chemical resistance, high dielectric properties and exceptionally low friction characteristics. Manufactured from virgin polytetrafluoroethylene, PTFE has good high temperature stability which allows it to be used in continuous temperatures of 260ºC.
The unique combination of high performance characteristics offered by PTFE have led to it being employed in a wide range of sealing, lining and support applications. It is used for everything from valve seat gaskets to “O” rings, bellows, machined seals and wear strips. PTFE machines well and can be worked to tight tolerances to suit critical applications. Because of its anti-stick characteristics, bonding PTFE can be quite involved and it is therefore suggested that you contact AG for assistance on how to best achieve this outcome.
AG carries PTFE sheets in a vast range of sizes which begin in roll form at less than 0.5mm thick and range all way up to over 50mm. Sheet size varies depending on thickness. AG also utilises this high quality material to manufacture a wide range of different components. In addition to the items listed above, these include commutator rings for electric motors (with etched backings to facilitate adhesion), cable coupling insulators, wear strips and plates and a full range of custom machined items.
In addition to our comprehensive selection of sheet and roll stock, AG also offers this premium quality product in tape (for thinner sizes), tube and rod forms which increase the potential applications for this unique product and may present a more economical option for some applications. For more information on the full range available, or for assistance in determining whether PTFE is suitable for your application, please do not hesitate to contact your local AG branch.
