Natural Rubber Insertion (also known as Rubber Insertion or NRI) is a highly economical, general purpose rubber manufactured from natural rubber compound that is reinforced with a woven cotton insertion as standard (other more specialised grades with other material insertions are also available). This reinforcement increases the tensile strength of Natural Rubber Insertion and allows it to be used in a range of common sealing, wear pad, skirting and lining applications.

Black in colour (as standard), Natural Rubber insertion has good resistance to mild acids and alkalis and moderate resistance to ozone. It is not well suited to use with oils and/or hydrocarbons. It is typically used in applications where temperatures range from -50ºC to 90ºC and has good edge tear resistance and abrasion resistance coupled with reliable and controlled elasticity.

Standard Natural Rubber Insertion is listed as 60 Durometer in hardness (+/- 5), though AG does hold stock of softer and harder versions of this rubber. Depending on the thickness selected, the material comes with either a 1 or 2 ply reinforcement. Generally, 0.8mm, 1.5mm and 3mm material is supplied with 1 ply reinforcement (though 3mm is also available with 2 ply) whilst 4.5mm, 6mm and 9mm are supplied with two plies of cotton.

AG offers this versatile and affordable grade of rubber in a range of thicknesses, roll widths and forms. It is available by the metre and in roll form as standard or can be provided slit into custom rolls, cut into fabricated components of all shapes and sizes, or adhesive backed to allow easy application to vertical faces.
