L124 Electrical Insulation Sleeving is manufactured from braided E glass yarns which have been specially heat treated to reduce textile sizes, increase abrasion resistance and minimise the degree of fraying when cut. This treatment also allows L124 sleeving to better retain roundness whilst simultaneously being highly flexible and pliable. L124 shows good expandability which allows it to be applied over irregular shapes and conductor joins.
Natural in colour, L124 Sleeving has a wall thickness which ranges from 0.35mm to 0.7mm and is available in a range of different bore sizes. Standard sizes vary from 3mm to 20mm with others also available upon request. This insulating sleeving is typically used in high temperature electrical applications where its ability to withstand electrical environments above 180ºC is of benefit.
L124, if applied without additional treatment, will only provide air breakdown electrical insulation strength unless impregnated with insulating varnish or resin. As a result, this sleeving is often used for mechanical protection on conductor insulation and as a heat barrier on hot running components. L124 Sleeving is also utilised for the insulation of carbon brushes though for this application is generally necessary to treat the cut end with an air drying insulation or to sealing with a heat shrink sleeve to prevent fraying.
