Gum Rubber is a specialised form of natural rubber that is specifically designed to provide excellent resistance to cutting, abrasion or tearing. This high quality grade of rubber is un-pigmented which allows it to be used in applications where colour contamination is of concern.
AG’s standard grade of Gum Rubber is 35 Duro (Shore A) in hardness. This types has a high elongation at break (700%) and excellent tear strength (60N/mm). It is used in applications where continuous temperatures are expected to be between -25ºC and +70ºC.
Because of its excellent resilience, strength and toughness, Gum Rubber is often used for wear pad or skirting applications. More specifically, Gum Rubber is often used for:
- Wear Pads and Strips
- Vacuum Blankets
- Conveyor Skirting
- Curtains
- Gaskets and Seals
- Transfer Socks
- Tank and Vessel Lining
Gum Rubber exhibits excellent resistance to fine particle sliding and wet slurry abrasion which makes it a common choice for slide, protection and sealing application in environments that process such media.
