Weicon Contact Adhesive VA 100 is a one-part, cold curing adhesive. This universal type is designed for maximum versatility and, as a result, exhibits excellent compatibility with a wide range of materials (that include metals, plastics, rubbers, glass, ceramic and leather, though it also displays good suitability for EPDM, wood and balsa wood).
Clear in colour, Weicon Contact Adhesive VA 100 has a medium viscosity (60-120 mPa·s) and is used for covering gaps no larger than 0.15mm.
Part of the Ethyl Ester group of Weicon Contact Adhesives, Weicon VA 100 Adhesive is used in applications where temperatures fall between -50ºC and 80ºC (with short-term spikes up to 100ºC). Like all Weicon Contact Adhesives, VA 100 polymerises by reacting with moisture on both the bonding surface and from the air before curing under light pressure.
If used for bonding plastics with particularly adhesive averse surfaces (e.g. polyolefines, PTFE) the surface should be pre-treated with Weicon Contact Adhesive Primer for Polyolefines. Failure to do so will means that the Contact Adhesive cannot anchor itself to the plastic and a strong bond will be unable to form. It is suggested that users familiarise themselves with the TDS for this product before use.
Weicon Contact Adhesive VA 100 is available from AG in 3gm, 12gm, 30gm, 60gm and 500gm packs. The 3gm is supplied in a tube whilst the 12gm, 30gm and 60gm varieties all make use of Weicon’s proprietary pen system which allows for incredibly accurate, easy application, clean processing and improved dosing. The 500gm is supplied in a tube.
