Viton A Rubber, Black, 70 Duro

A premium material that combines excellent chemical compatibility with outstanding temperature resistance, a high density and long lasting sealing performance.

Also known as FKM or fluoroelastomer rubber, it is available in a wide range of sizes, forms and styles.

Viton Rubber is a premium material that combines excellent chemical compatibility with outstanding temperature resistance, a high density and long lasting sealing performance. Also known as FKM or fluoroelastomer rubber, Viton® Rubber is available in a wide range of sizes, forms and styles.

AG’s standard grade of Viton® is black in colour and is produced from 100% Viton® DuPont™ Dow compound. This rubber has a smooth surface finish and a listed durometer hardness of 75 (±5) Shore A.

Compared to other standard grades of rubber elastomers, Viton Rubber exhibits excellent physical toughness and has a tensile strength of 7.14 MPa and an minimum elongation a break rating of 250%.

Viton® Rubber is typically used in applications where continuous temperatures are expected to be between -17ºC and 250ºC though it may tolerate higher temperature spikes for short periods. In elevated temperatures Viton Rubber still displays good compression which allows for highly reliable sealing of application that may stiffen other non-fluorinated rubber elastomers.

One of the main features of Viton® Rubber is its versatile chemical resistance. This includes good resistance to a broad range of oils, fuels, lubricants and most mineral acids as well as excellent resistance to most aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, mould, fungus, sun, atmospheric oxidation and weathering. Viton also exhibits moderate resistance to water and steam though it is generally attacked by ketones, ethers and some esters.

Typical applications for this premium grade rubber materials include:

  • Critical Gasket Applications.
  • High Temperature Gaskets and Seals.
  • Gaskets and Seals for Oil Sealing Applications.
  • O Rings and Gasket Tapes.
  • Food, Potable Water and Medical Grade Sealing Applications (a special white food grade Viton rubber is used for these).
Viton® is a registered trademark of DuPont™.
