Red Fibre is a very economical type of gasket material that has been used for well over a century. This material has good physical strength and is often used for making inexpensive washers, wear strips, low voltage insulators and spacers.

Red Fibre is manufactured from cellulose paper with a cellulose binding agent and exhibits high water absorption (in fact, if stored in a damp place you’ll definitely notice material swelling). It is used in applications with temperature between 10ºC and 85ºC and has a density of 1.4gms / cm³.

The main benefits of Red Fibre (apart from its low cost) are related to its physical strength. This tough and resilient form of gasket paper / board is extremely long wearing with good tear resistance and impact strength. In dry, low humidity environments Red Fibre can also be used as a low voltage electrical insulation material.
