Weicon Plastic Metal WR

Material AG000224S01 Category

Weicon Plastic Metal WR

Weicon Plastic Metal WR is a steel-filled liquid epoxy resin designed for casting, gap compensation, and repairs in areas exposed to significant wear due to friction.

It’s ideal for repairing shafts, pouring out bearings, and producing casting models or moulds. It can also be used as a wear-resistant undercoating before applying Weicon Ceramic BL.

This epoxy cures with minimal shrinkage and provides strong compressive strength and sliding properties. It is resistant to temperatures between -35°C and 120°C, making it suitable for various industrial applications.

Weicon Plastic Metal WR is a pourable, wear-resistant grade of plastic metal that is typically used for mould making or wherever metal parts are subjected to high wear as a result of friction. More specifically, this high grade of steel-filled epoxy is used for:

  • Repairs to and the build-up of shafts
  • For pouring our bearings, cutting and punching tools
  • For making casting and profile milling models or drawing moulds
  • For pouring out under machines and foundations
  • And as a wear-resistant undercoating that will be coated with Ceramic BL Plastic Metal.

Weicon Plastic Metal WR can be applied in layers up to 10mm in thickness and cures with very little shrinkage (0.02%). Pot life at 20ºC is about 45 minutes and, though it has a 100:15 mix ratio (resin : hardener), mixing is easy because the kit is supplied with the correct mixing proportions; simply pour all of the hardener into the resin container and mix thoroughly.

Weicon Plastic Metal WR will cure to the point of handling mechanical loads in approximately 16 hours and achieve final hardness in about 24 hours (depending on curing environment). Once fully cured, this high quality product will exhibit excellent compressive strength (110 MPA at 25ºC according to DIN 53281-83) and hard a Shore D hardness of 90 (again, at 25ºC according to DIN 53281-83).

Plastic Metal WR has good sliding properties and withstands exposure to temperatures between -35ºC and 120ºC and is black in colour.

Available Sizes

Weicon Plastic Metal WR is available in two different size kits from Associated Gaskets: 0.5kg and 2kg. Both contain the correct quantities of resin and activator as well as a pair of disposable gloves, instructions and a plastic mixing spatula.

To make mixing simple and easy extra space has been left in the resin container so that the activator can be added and mixed.
