For decades, Associated Gaskets has been supplying a wide range of metal shim stock and metal plate. Whether as standard, 6 inch shim, extra wide sheets or in a wide variety of custom made parts.
With a name like ours, most people don’t exactly think of us when it comes to their shim and plate needs. We’re not metal workers. That said, we do keep an awful lot of these materials in stock (including many rare sizes) and are very good at turning around complex, short-run jobs fast.

Metal Shim Stock
We stock a large range of different metallic shim materials, thicknesses and widths. The list below covers most of these but it is no way exhaustive.

Standard Metal Shim Stock Materials
- 304 Stainless Steel.
- 316 Stainless Steel.

Widths
Typically available in 150mm or 300mm wide as standard. Some also held in 600mm wide. Precision cut parts and sizes can be arranged upon request.
Thicknesses
0.05mm (0.002″) through 0.508mm (0.020″)
Metal Plate
Metal plate is stocked in a variety of different materials, thicknesses and sheet sizes. We often use these in the fabrication of custom made metal components, flat metal gaskets and various other hybrid parts.
Depending on your requirements we can offer this fabrication service or, if you’d prefer, supply the metal plate as is or cut down to suit your needs.

- 304 Stainless Steel.

- Galvanised Steel.
- Mild Steel.
Sheet Sizes
These vary pretty dramatically depending on material and thickness. The closest to a standard is either 900mm / 1800mm or 1200mm / 2400mm. No matter the size, the sheet can be cut down if this better suits your needs.
Thicknesses
0.55mm through 8mm for some materials.
Metal Washers
Associated Gaskets is pleased to offer a full range of precision cut, custom metal washers. We can produce these using either existing dies, watercutting or laser cutting. Our specialty is small runs of custom sizes made from our existing stock of either metal shim or metal plate.

Custom Metal Shims and Metallic Gaskets
When it’s a really customised part you need, we can help. Our experienced fabrication team have made all kinds of specialised parts and components over the years and will be happy to assist with your requirements.
Composite and coated metal parts, air baffles, folded components and precision cut pieces can all be arranged. Just like with our washers and cut shims, short-run custom jobs are a specialty of ours and we can often perform this work on short lead-times and from old samples if that’s all the information you have.
