Weicon Plastic Metal WP is a specialised two-part compound designed to provide outstanding wear and abrasion resistance. Produced from ceramic filled epoxy resin, Weicon Plastic Metal WP has a pasty consistency and does not sag.
This high quality grade is specifically designed to provide long lasting wear protection and can be used to replace wear resistant alloys, ceramic tiles and rubber linings as well as welded metal coatings.
Typical Characteristics and advantages of Weicon Metal WP include:
- Extremely high resistance to abrasion and wear.
- High strength
- Very good chemical resistance
- Economical

Weicon Plastic Metal WP can be applied in layers up to 10mm thick and cures with very little shrinkage (0.02%). Pot life for 200gm at 20ºC is about 30 minutes. This highly viscous putty has a 1:1 mix ratio and to make things simple, extra space has been left in the resin container so the entire contents of the hardener container can be added and thoroughly mixed.
Weicon Plastic Metal WP will cure to the point where it can handle mechanical loads in about 16 hours and achieve final hardness after around 96 hours (or 4 days). Once fulloy cured, this tough, long lasting wear resistant compound will be grey in colour and have a Shore D hardness of 80 (according to DIN 53281-83).
Cured Plastic Metal WP withstands temperatures between -35ºC and 120ºC and has a mean compressive strength of 51 MPa (measured at 25ºC according to DIN 53281-83).
