Weicon Plastic Metal SF is designed for the fast, permanent repair of leaking pipes or damaged equipment. This grade of plastic metal has a pasty consistency for accurate application and is manufactured from a steel filled epoxy resin base.
Compared to the other grades in the Weicon Plastic Metal range, SF is very fast curing. It has a pot life of about 5 minutes (at 20ºC, based on 200gm of mixture) and is fully cured after approximately 6 hours (can handle mechanical loads after 3 hours). Once cured, Plastic Metal SF is dark grey in colour.
Due to its combination of fast cure time and long lasting performance, Weicon Plastic Metal SF is used in a variety of applications. These include:
- Quick repairs to leaking pipes, tanks and vessels.
- Reconditioning of housings and gears.
- Repair and reconditioning of anchorages.
- Production of fixing devices.
- Also widely used in machine construction, tool making, model and mould making and throughout the marine and maritime industries (Plastic Metal SF is certified by Germanischer Lloyd).
Once completely cured, Weicon Plastic Metal SF sets hard. Tests conducted in accordance with DIN 53281-83 requirements found that fully cured Plastic Metal SD had a hardness of 85 Shore D, a compressive strength of 70 MPa and a mean tensile strength of 14 MPa.
Weicon Plastic Metal SF cures with little shrinkage (0.03%) and, once fully cured, withstands temperatures between -35ºC and 90ºC.
Available Sizes
Weicon Plastic Metal SF is available in two different size kits from AG: 0.5kg and 2kg. Both sizes contain the correct proportions of resin and activator as well as a pair of disposable gloves, instructions and a plastic mixing and application spatula.
To make mixing simple and easy, extra space has been left in the resin container so that the activator can be added and mixed.
