Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W

Material AG000214S01 Category

Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W

A 2 part putty that offers extremely good wear resistance, excellent chemical resistance and the ability to withstand temperatures up to 200ºC (with spikes to 260ºC).

White in colour, it has a putty consistency which allows it to be used on vertical surfaces as well as over-head areas.

Because of its’ outstanding abrasion resistance, Ceramic W Filled Epoxy is most commonly used for lining and protection applications in areas where high amounts of wear are experienced (especially with elevated temperatures).

Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W is a 2 part putty that offers extremely good wear resistance, excellent chemical resistance and the ability to withstand temperatures up to 200ºC (with spikes to 260ºC). White in colour, Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W has a putty consistency which allows it to be used on vertical surfaces as well as over-head areas.

This grade of plastic metal is designed for maximum wear protection and chemical/temperature resistance and is made from a precision mix of mineral filled epoxy resin. Known applications include:

  • Bonding and lining of aluminium oxide stones in mill production
  • Lining of highly stressed pump cases
  • As a wear protection coating for slide bearings, slides and pipes
  • Various situations where the use of a dark wear resistant product is not desired for optical reasons

Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W can be applied in layers up to 10mm thick and cures with very little shrinkage (0.02%). Pot life for 200gm at 20ºC is about 120 minutes which allows for accurate application and minimum wastage. This highly viscous putty has a 100:33 mix ratio and to make things simple, extra space has been left in the resin container so the entire contents of the hardener container can be added and thoroughly mixed.

Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W will cure to the point where it can handle mechanical loads in about 24 hours and achieve final hardness after around 48 hours. Once fully cured, this tough, long lasting wear resistant compound will be white in colour and have a Shore D hardness of 85 (according to DIN 53281-83).

Cured Plastic Metal WP withstands long term exposure to temperatures between -35ºC and 200ºC as well as short-term spikes up to 260ºC. Plastic Metal Ceramic W has a mean compressive strength of 140 MPa (measured at 25ºC according to DIN 53281-83).

Available Sizes

Weicon Plastic Metal Ceramic W is available in either 500gm or 2kg kits from your local Associated Gaskets. Both kit sizes contain both hardener and activator in the correct proportions as well as a mixing spatula and disposable plastic gloves.
