Weicon GMK 2510 Contact Adhesive is a versatile glue with high adhesive strength. This adhesive consists of two parts; adhesive and activator. The presence of the activator makes it a good choice for harder to bond material types (such as EPDM rubber). It also significantly enhances bond strength and aids with temperature resistance.
GMK 2510 is available in two kit sizes. It is compatible with a variety of material types including metal, textiles, leather, most sponge and solid rubbers (excluding silicone), many insulating materials (e.g. epoxy glass), polyurethane materials, wood, stone, brick, concrete and many plastics.
It is not suitable for materials such as silicone, PTFE, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC soft form or PVC imitation leather.
After curing, the bond made by GMK 2510 is moisture proof and permanently elastic.
GMK 2510 is black in colour. Full cure will take about 24 hours. Once this is complete, it will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures between -40°C and +80°C. It will also handle short-term spikes (about an hour) up to 130°C.
Partly due to its excellent humidity resistance, it is widely used in the marine sector and is both IMPA registered.

Surface Preparation
The surfaces being bonded must be clean, dry and free of dust or grease (Weicon Surface Cleaner is ideal for this). Roughening smooth surfaces will significantly increase the bonding strength achieved.
Processing
Stir the adhesive portion of Weicon GMK2510 Rubber Metal Adhesive well prior to use.
Then, mix adhesive and activator (mixing ratio 100:7) thoroughly and bubble-free for at least four minutes with the application spatula or a mechanical mixer at low speed (max. 500 rpm) to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
Only prepare the quantity that can be applied within the evaporation time.
Apply evenly with a brush or a spatula (smooth or finely toothed) onto both surfaces to be bonded.
Let it dry for about 5-15 minutes depending on layer thickness, temperature and humidity. For absorbing surfaces (e.g. felt) a second adhesive layer should be applied once the first has dried.
As soon as the surfaces are dry but still a little bit tacky the parts should be joined and pressed using a strong pressure for a short period.
Non-cured excessive adhesive can be easily removed with Weicon Surface Cleaner.
