ePTFE Gasket Sheet | Expanded PTFE

Associated Gaskets ePTFE Gasket Sheet is a premium sealing material manufactured from 100% expanded PTFE. Offering exceptional chemical resistance, excellent compressibility and outstanding sealing performance, it is ideal for irregular flange surfaces, aggressive chemicals, food processing, pharmaceutical applications and demanding industrial environments.

When conventional gasket materials struggle to seal uneven flange faces or highly corrosive media, ePTFE Gasket Sheet provides a reliable solution.

Manufactured from 100% expanded virgin PTFE using a multidirectional expansion process, this premium gasket material combines the outstanding chemical resistance of PTFE with greatly improved flexibility and compressibility. The result is a gasket material that conforms easily to damaged or irregular flange surfaces while maintaining excellent sealing performance under varying operating conditions.

Suitable for temperatures from -240°C to +270°C (up to 315°C intermittently) and pressures up to 200 bar, ePTFE Gasket Sheet is widely used throughout the chemical processing, mining, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, water treatment and power generation industries.

Why Choose ePTFE Gasket Sheet?

Unlike conventional PTFE sheet, expanded PTFE features a highly fibrillated internal structure that improves flexibility, strength and sealing performance while significantly reducing creep and cold flow.

Key advantages include:

  • Outstanding resistance to virtually all chemicals
  • Suitable for aggressive acids and alkalis
  • Excellent flexibility for sealing damaged or uneven flanges
  • High resistance to creep relaxation
  • Wide operating temperature range
  • Suitable for vacuum and high-pressure applications
  • FDA compliant for food contact applications
  • Suitable for oxygen service
  • Non-toxic and physiologically safe
  • Excellent weathering and ageing resistance
  • Easy gasket removal during maintenance

Typical Applications

ePTFE Gasket Sheet is suitable for sealing applications across numerous industries, including:

  • Chemical processing plants
  • Food and beverage manufacturing
  • Pharmaceutical production
  • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Mining operations
  • Petrochemical facilities
  • Refineries
  • Power stations
  • Pulp and paper mills
  • General industrial process equipment

Common equipment that use ePTFE Gaskets include:

  • Pipe flanges
  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Heat exchangers
  • Pressure vessels
  • Storage tanks
  • Process piping

Chemical Resistance

One of the major benefits of expanded PTFE gasket material is its outstanding chemical resistance.

ePTFE Gasket Sheet is chemically inert across the full pH range (0–14), making it suitable for sealing almost every industrial chemical including aggressive acids, alkalis and solvents.

The only notable exceptions are molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine under elevated temperatures and pressures.

Temperature & Pressure Capability

Designed for demanding industrial environments, ePTFE Gasket Sheet offers:

  • Continuous operating temperatures from -240°C to +270°C
  • Short-term exposure up to 315°C
  • Operating pressures from full vacuum through to 200 bar

This combination makes it an excellent choice where both chemical resistance and temperature performance are critical.
