Wet felt is so named because of its pre-cured state. Manufactured through the combination of ceramic fibres with an inorganic bonding agent, ceramic wet felt may be cut, formed or moulded to any size of shape. When cured, it sets into a lightweight yet resilient insulator that may be sawn, sanded or cut.
Capable of service in temperatures ranging up to 1260ºC, ceramic wet felt is a highly efficient insulator able to withstand vibration and physical abuse. Wet felt possess low thermal conductivity and heat storage whilst offering high resistance to thermal shock and high tensile strength. Available in a number of different thickness, this completely inorganic insulator is often used to insulating curved areas in ovens, the interior of dryers or as insulation on pipelines.
