Weicon Plastic Metal BR is a pasty, two part repair compound with very high bonding strength and long lasting performance. The putty like consistency of this grade makes it ideal for repairing holes and other damage where a liquid repair compound would drip or be messy to work with.
Weicon Plastic Metal BR is manufactured from bronze filled epoxy resin and is bronze in colour. This grade exhibits excellent adhesion to all metal types and can be applied in maximum layer thicknesses of 12mm.
Typical applications for this versatile and permanent repair compound include:
- Filling blowholes and rebuilding bronze equipment parts (e.g. ship propellers)
- Repairs of bronze castings
- Patch-up and rebuilding where brazing is undesirable or impossible
Plastic Metal BR has a pot life of about 60 minutes (at 20ºC, based on 200gm of mixture) and is fully cured after approximately 24 hours (can handle mechanical loads after 16 hours). It cures with very little shrinkage (0.02%) which allows for solid patching and filling.
Once fully cured, Weicon Plastic Metal BR has excellent physical strength. In DIN 53281-83 tests it recorded a compressive strength of 95 MPa and a tensile strength of 29 MPa. Final hardness is 75 Shore D. The cured compound is used in applications with temperatures between -35ºC and 120ºC.
Available Sizes
Weicon Plastic Metal BR is available from AG in 0.5kg or 2kg kits. These contain the correct portions of both hardener and resin which allows you to simply combine both and not have to worry about proper mixing ratio.
