Matrix L100 PTFE Gasket Material is a premium grade of high performance sealing fibre designed for critical applications. One of three grades in the Matrix line, Matrix L100 offers exceptional strength and outstanding sealing stability under pressure.
Unlike many other PTFE based gasket materials, the Matrix line are produced using a specialised matrix orientation which, when combined with their premium quality fillers, allow them to resist creep and cold flow.
Matrix L100 PTFE Gasket Material is a biaxially orientated PTFE sheet with silica fillers that is produced using the HS10 method developed by DuPont™. This creates a unique sheet where both longitudinal and transverse directions are equally as strong. At this point, the sheet exhibits outstanding chemical resistance but, as PTFE has little memory or recovery, would be susceptible to creep and movement under sealing loads.
To eliminate this problem, Matrix L100 is manufactured via a specialised process that allows for the addition of silica fillers. These are precisely distributed throughout the sheet and greatly increase creep resistance. They also add body and stability to the finished gasket material resulting in a superior balance of surface conformance.
Matrix L100 PTFE Gasket Material is tan in colour and is used for sealing most chemicals (with the exception of molten alkali metals, fluoride gas and hydrogen fluoride). This high quality gasket material is approved for potable water service, complies with FDA regulations and is used to seal all concentrations of sulphuric acid.
Available Sizes
Matrix L100 PTFE Gasket Material is available from AG in 1.5mm and 3mm thick sheets as standard (other thicknesses can also be produced upon request). Standard sheet sizes are 1520mm².
In addition to the sheets, AG is able to quickly fabricate standard or custom gaskets from our Matrix L100 PTFE gasket material. Gaskets for standard size flanges (e.g. ANSI, BS, AS) can be produced using only the relevant flange dimension codes while custom gaskets can be supplied from drawings, sketches, used samples or dimension lists. If an extra-large gasket is required, segmented seals with dovetailed joints can also be arranged.

Other Styles of Matrix PTFE Gasket Material
In addition to the Matrix L100 detailed on this page, AG is pleased to offer both L104 and L110 Matrix gasket materials. The L104 is blue in colour, is filled with glass microspheres and exhibits excellent compression for sealing glass lined or other types of flanges when loading problems exist. Matrix L110 PTFE Gasket Material is pigment-free, barium sulphate filled, and is typically used for sealing in food, pharmaceutical or other chemical processing environments.
