AG’s standard grade of fibreglass rope is manufactured through the interlocking of loops consisting of several fibreglass yarns which results in a material that is flexible, strong and resilient. This rope is available in low, medium and high densities as standard and in sizes ranging from 6.4mm (1/4”) diameter through to 38mm (1 ½”). Used in applications where temperatures reach 540ºC (1,000ºF) these fibreglass ropes are non-flammable and will not fade or mildew.

Like the majority of our fibreglass ropes, AG’s standard grades are highly resistant to most chemicals (except hydrofluoric and hot phosphoric acids and wet hydrogen chloride) and offer a high strength to weight ratio. At ambient temperatures the rope will not stretch or shrink (offers no more than 3% elongation under maximum stress) and retains stability even at high temperatures. When additional resiliency is required, AG also offers a variant of these grades which is reinforced with stainless steel (or other) wire to increase strength and the ropes ability to reform after being compressed.

This range of versatile thermal insulation ropes are often used in gasket, packing, oven door seal, and expansion joint applications. AG also makes extensive use of these ropes in the construction of our insulating tadpole (door seal) tapes whilst also offering this product for window gasket and screen applications. As they are manufactured from “E” grade fibreglass yarns, these ropes are often used in electrical applications where their high dielectric strength and low electrical constant characteristics are desired (does not apply to wire reinforced grades).
